Instrument Code:L02-01Name:Dipping vesselSynonyms:Dipping bottle, dipping probe for explosion-proof applicationsDescription: A detachable sampler consisting of a metal or plastic bottle/probe with a weighted base (for quick lowering) and a plug for the bottle. The bottle and the plug are suitably tied to a cord, rope or chain, which makes it possible to take samples from various levels: when the necessary level is reached the plug is opened by a sharp pull or alternative means. Capacity: 500 ml to 1 000 ml. For sampling of flammable liquids the dipping vessel must be made from non-spark producing materials (chrome or nickel-plated brass or stainless steel). The cable or chain, the plug and the manually operated reel must also be made from non-spark producing materials. The dipping vessel and accessories should meet the requirements of EN 13463-1 Non-electrical equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres — Part 1: Basic method and requirements. Warning: When sampling flammable or highly flammable liquids the explosion-proof guidelines must be observed. Only electrically conductive lowering cables made from non-sparking materials should be used together with electrically conductive manually operated reels with an earthing connection.Picture: Application: Sampling of liquids from discrete depth zones — spot sampling and cross-sectional sampling is possible. The type of sampling probe is chosen according to the material being sampled.Operation: Observe the safety regulations: the explosion-proof guidelines! The probe is inserted into the liquid to be sampled. The top is closed by a stopper, which is attached to a cable. When the probe reaches the desired depth the stopper is released and the probe is filled with the sample from the specific depth. Then, the probe is withdrawn and the content is transferred to a sample container.Typical examples: Liquid samples Petroleum and other products, incl. dark petroleum products such as heating oils and dark lubrication oils. Organic solvents, thinners, and light petroleum products such as petrol, kerosene, petroleum and light lubricating oils. Water-miscible liquids.Cleaning and maintenance: Wash with gasoline, then with water, open the stopper and dry at 60 °C.List of tools Recommended Sampling Tools
